  • For JMA Members Urgent Attention: The JMA has been offered Scampton airfield for a Jet Meet on 26/27 July 08 - very short notice but the only date on offer for the remainder of this year. The JMA Cttee are happy to run the event but need to get a feel from the membership of who would be likely to attend. To that end, JMA members reading this who would be able to make it to Scampton over that period are requested to confirm this by emailing the JMA Secretary, Roger Kilbey, at:

    btinternet.com ...by this coming Sunday, 13th July, 2008. After that date, notification will be made of the decision on whether or not the event will take place.


  • There were only 4 applicants to enter the qualifier for the 6 places available for the 2009 JWM English Team, and so they become the official entry to represent England in Israel in 2009. They are:

    Paul Dunkley
    Davie Matthews
    Jeremy McMillan
    Ali Machinchy

    Team members will nominate a Team Manager.


  • The JMA RAF Cottesmore Jet Meet will take place over the weekend 16-17th August, 2008. See Events page for more datails.


  • The BMFA have finally ratfied the JMA/GTBA COP to include the failsafe rule, which states: "In the event of loss of signal the failsafe must be set so that, after a maximum of 3 seconds the engine will go to idle or shut down. The use of idle as the failsafe setting must be authorised by the event organiser. The event organiser may also specify a shorter delay time."

    Membership

    Join the JMA!

    JMA membership is open to residents of Great Britain and the membership year runs from 1st April – 31st March. Existing members are given a grace period for renewals until 30th April and anybody joining after 1st October will receive a 50% discount on the membership fee.

    The membership fee is currently £30 pa.   Membership is conditional on current membership of either the British Model Flying Association or the Scottish Aeromodeller's Association

    Membership benefits include free entry to all JMA organised Jet Events and the JMA Mini-Trade Show, as well as eligibility to take part in the AGM. Fringe benefits include automatic invitation to the privately run Classic Jets events, that normally take place four times a year.

    The JMA is the BMFAs specialist body with responsibility to promote interest and participation in the sport of design, construction, and flight of jet type model aircraft in Great Britain, and is represented on the BMFAs R/C Power Technical Committee and on the Board of the International Jet Modeller's Committee.
